Algo-brother-phobia

I have always been one to easily jump or flinch. I don't know why? I'm not one to get super scared. I can stay at the house by myself, I can drive across country on my own and I don't scream at the sight of a spider. I blame it on my brothers. You know that beloved childhood game "Think Fast?" MY BIGGEST NIGHTMARE! I mean seriously, who came up with that game? My brothers, being boys, always had a ball in their hands. I would be standing there minding my own business when I suddenly hear a "thinfas" and I was suddenly pounded by a ball. Can you blame me for flinching? It's a good thing I didn't play basketball. Knowing me, they would pass the ball to me and I would duck and roll. There I would be crutched on the floor trying to protect myself as the game went on without me. Yep, very good thing I didn't play basketball.
When we were older and more refined in our thinking, my brothers began to play the "Slug Bug" game. Another very stupid game. I guess they loved hitting people so much that they made other games just like it. There was "Yellow Bellow" and "Copper Whopper" and "Truck Buck." Seriously, they made one up for every car on the road! There was no escaping the impending punch! *Sigh* I lived in constant fear...... Ok maybe not constant fear.
Being the eldest in my family has it's advantages. I was the first to drive and therefore the first to get a car. It was always fun to jump in a car and hit the open road whenever I wanted! But, as the eldest child and only driver besides my parents, I became the chauffeur to the family. Lugging my siblings from one place to the next. Unfortunately, being the driver does not exempt you from the "slug bug" game. Yep, you guessed it! I'd be driving down the road, carefully hauling my younger brother to his appointment. When out of know where he yells "slug bug!" and pounds me in the arm from the back seat! SERIOUSLY!!! So much for the luxuries of the eldest child.
Over the years, I would randomly flinch as someone moved their arm. I have been asked several times why flinch. My reply is simply, "I have three brothers." How much more do I need to say, I mean without writing a blog post.
It was a school morning. I have been teaching Kaytie, which means I had to start getting up earlier, and doing school. I shrugged off my covers and sleepily walked to my sister's room to wake her up. The house was dark and quiet. I pulled on my pants and threw on a tank and headed to brush my teeth. I was really, really tired! (just remember that.) With a mouth full of toothpaste I leaned over the sink completely unaware of my surroundings. It came as my doom when all the sudden something touched me!! I jumped and toothpaste went everywhere. When I gathered myself together, I heard my mother laughing. Well, that is one way to wake me up in the morning. I guess I never will outgrow Algo-brother-phobia. (the fear of pain by brothers) lol
